Heber Valley Camp

Before we got married, we both talked about how we loved camping. Well, both of us were very wrong. We were remembering the camping trips we had taken as kids, when you aren't in charge of anything. Our first camping trip was to Jordanelle. We took our new tent and an air mattress that M's aunt gave us for our wedding. Come to find out, the air mattress was only a double. I love M and I love it when he snuggles me and rubs my back before we go to sleep, but when it's time to sleep, I go to my side and he goes to his. Sometimes when I stretch out my arm, he is so far away that I really can't touch him. There was no way we were going to sleep on a double mattress together and get any rest. That was when we both realized that we didn't really love camping. The next day, we took that crappy mattress and shoved it in our little civic to float on the lake with it. We popped it when we shoved it in the car and that was the end of the tiny air mattress.

I really did love camping as a kid. I think it is such a good family activity. So occasionally, I can talk Mark into going camping and this weekend was one of those lucky times. We went up to Heber Valley Camp. It is so pretty up there. It was a perfect day. My Mom reserved the camp site with 4 cabins and a bunch of the family came up. We stayed in a cabin with Danna and her family and my mom. We even got some sleep. The kids had a lot of fun with their cousins and the play dough. I think M even had fun. They did warn us that they had seen a bear up there earlier in the week. Luckily, we didn't see one. It was fun to be with my family. I love to see my kids having fun. M had a lot of fun and was really good up there. A had fun too. Thanks, Mom for the fun!

I, too, remember camping being fun as a kid...different story as an adult, but I think it's important so we'll still camp every once-in-a-while...we'll actually be going 2 times this summer!! Wish us luck!

The last few times we camped in a tent, we swore we would never go camping again unless we had cabins or a trailer. That place looks like fun. We may have to try it out. I bet your kids had a blast!

Hi Brynn~
Ya, Jade is home all summer (Kind of) she is a little busy bum. She has spent most of last week over at Grandma's house, then her Aunt and cousins from California come in town a couple days ago so she has been with them. Next week John is taking her to Montana for a week.. She is around.. Tell the girls to come over anytime they want.. We love having them over to play.

What track did you get this year? We should have Jade and Aly walk together. I know the school is not far, but I have a hard time letting Jade walk by herself. When it's nice outside she begs to walk and I know it's good for her, but I'm a worry wart. Also I was thinking, when it's cold outside one of the Grandma's ALWAYS takes her to school, with you having other little ones Aly is more then welcome to ride along..

Ok, so I just realize I already asked you what track Aly is on and you answered me :-) Sorry! Jade has been on A track the last 2 years. That is my favorite. This year she was put on C - I put in a request for A again. If they don't call today I guess we stay on C :-(...
